Theater & Arts

On Our Stage

Our world-class Sara Belle November Theater is a hub of activity. Our season’s schedule is full of national performers and local favorites, and has included the Capitol Steps, the Susan Greenbaum Band, the Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony, Virginia Opera and Virginia Repertory Theatre. With more than 330 comfortable seats, wide aisles and spaces for wheelchairs, our theater is truly a place where all of our residents can come and enjoy broadway caliber performances without ever having to leave home. You won’t find another community that offers a theater as stunning as ours.

More grand performances will be returning to our stage soon. Glance through our previous Performing Arts Brochure to learn about the acts that have graced our stage in the past and that will return in the future. Canterbury Club members are invited to join us when our next season begins.

Let Your Creativity Flow

Our light-filled McGue-Millhiser Arts Studio offers more than 40 classes and workshops each month.  Painting, stained glass, pottery, weaving, collage and more; there is something for everyone whether a beginner or a lifelong artist.

For those who enjoy a hobby with more teeth, we have the Gordon Woodworking Shop. Our resident woodworkers build much more than birdhouses. From the fully equipped shop have come four-poster beds, heirloom quality nesting tables, porch swings and even a floating home for the ducks on our Cochrane Pond.

If you’re not in the creative mood, you can also be inspired by our permanent art collection, located throughout our campus. Check out our online gallery.
